Job Description

The SAS Project Manager is responsible for assisting in the development and execution of data-driven analytic programs and strategies across GPC business units in order to create operational efficiencies, enhanced customer experience and lay the foundation for future growth. The role requires conceptual thinking, excellent programming skills, analytical expertise, business acumen, a strategic mindset, client focus and the desire to build new capabilities and facilitate change within the organization.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

·    Ability to integrate disparate data from multiple internal systems to track ALL customer-to-company and company-to-customer interactions for the population of GPCs residential and small/medium business accounts, including but not limited to all billing, usage and services data, all channels including CC, local offices, web and chat.   

·    Must have the ability to become an expert in the nuances of all data sources utilized to identify information and/or data gaps and propose and pursue solutions to resolve.

·    Ability to consult with business analysts to understand and guide their analytic objectives and “translate” the request into SAS logic to support the information request.  Must be able to then derive the business implications from the results and consult with the business managers in the interpretation and business implications. 

·    Manage multiple complex project plans and timelines to ensure projects are delivered with the highest quality and on time.

·    Work with external data and product vendors in the area of data analytics ensuring that the tools and enabling technologies within GPC are state-of-the-art and continue to meet the growing needs of the organization.

Education and Job Experience

·         Master’s degree in statistics, computer science, or a related field strongly preferred.     

·         At least 5 years’ experience of programming expertise utilizing SAS in a business environment involving the integration and management of customer data with detailed internal company billing, service subscription, and usage data..  


Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


·         Expert knowledge of SAS and SQL, and proven ability to work in a database environment is essential.

·         Oracle experience a plus.

·         Must be comfortable working in Windows and Linux environments.

·         Familiarity with SAS’ E-Guide, querying tools, Putty or similar is essential.  

·         Ability to integrate, clean, mine and efficiently analyze large disparate data sets.  Must be able to understand genesis of all data and identify any data gaps or integrity issues and communicate how these will affect any planned analyses.  

·         Must be able to understand business/analytic issues and help guide the business managers in the development of complex data analytic plans.  

·         Ability to work productively supporting and/or guiding the data requirements and analytic direction of the group. 

·         Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects for multiple stakeholders under tight deadlines. 

·         Outstanding problem solving and strategic thinking skills.
