Job Description

The Office of Institutional Research & Assessment at The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa is seeking an Institutional Research Analyst Senior. This position is responsible for providing analytical support to The University of Alabama's administrative efforts by creating and maintaining context data and information, providing statistical analyses, responding to surveys and ad-hoc information requests, developing and conducting custom research methods for institutional studies, and enhancing the University's effectiveness through information and process integration. This position also provides leadership, guidance and supervision to other colleagues in our department. The pay range for this position is Minimum - $43,888 and Midpoint - $63,648. Minimum requirements are a bachelor’s degree or higher in a research or analytical field of study with a minimum of 3 years related research or analytical experience; OR a master's degree or higher in a research or analytical field of study and some related research or analytical experience; OR any equivalent combination of experience, training, education and/or certification from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been obtained.

Required Skills

This position requires demonstrated analytical and organizational skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a group setting, and a solid understanding of descriptive and inferential statistics using software such as SAS (preferred) or SPSS.  Proficient research design experience and higher education administration work experience is preferred.  Candidate must have a strong knowledge of integrated information systems, structured query language (SQL), the ability to extract data from large and disparate databases, effective reporting practices and principles, and the capability to translate technical issues to common English in order to facilitate communication and understanding. Qualified applicants must also pass a background check as a condition to employment.

Desired Skills

Proficient research design experience and higher education administration work experience is preferred.
